Red Gum Courier Delivery to Change to Allow for Greater Flexibility & Wider Distribution
The Red Gum Courier (RGC) has been delivered to household mailboxes across the local district since 1995, by various businesses and volunteers. The paper is entirely funded by advertisers large and small, and has become an important means of keeping our communities connected. In recent times we have been relying more heavily on volunteers to keep delivering the RGC; which is becoming increasingly difficult to sustain.
With the rise of social media and free advertising for those that use it, print media has in recent times also changed the way that it gets distributed, to enable greater exposure to a wider audience without the traditional delivery methods which limit its distribution financially.
You may have noticed the RGC has also progressed with free online access and the ability to download and print from your home in full colour. It has also become quite popular outside the current distribution area. The team at Nathalia Printers have been deliberating on the current distribution and exposure levels for its advertisers and have made the decision to cease delivering to mailboxes, of which approximately 30% are currently unsuitable for the paper in adverse conditions. A large number of regular students, visitors and people working within the local district currently have little to no access to a printed copy of the RGC.
Collection points are being finalised and advertisers are given the first option to have the Red Gum Courier available for free to everyone from their businesses. Local collection points so far are: Nathalia Post Office, TJ’s IGA Nathalia, Brereton’s Bakery Nathalia, Dove Motors, Blake Street Butchery, Barmah Forest Heritage & Education Centre, Picola Hotel, Barmah Road House, Wunghnu Cafe, Tallygaroopna Post Office, Mailbox Café Strathmerton and Brereton’s Bakery Numurkah. Further locations are welcome. We do still offer a subscription option if you would like to have the RGC posted directly to you, contact Nathalia Printers for more information on delivery cost.
The team sincerely thank the businesses and volunteers who have assisted with the distribution for almost 30 years.
It has now become financially possible to expand the RGC’s distribution, number of advertisers, pages and possibly even add more colour. We are currently getting things in place to hopefully introduce this new distribution method by our next edition.
