Locals a part of Aussie Hay Runners

O n the 11th of March, Matt Tuddenham owner of Tuddy’s Earthworks & Haulage Nathalia was part of a trip co-ordinated by Aussie Hay Runners. Four trucks made the trip to Buangor (between Beaufort and Ararat) with a load of donated hay for farmers who had been affected by the recent bushfires.

All the hay was donated from across the local region. A big thank you to Nicole & Greg Frostick and Heather & Graham Frostick for their kind donation of hay.
Matt has been carting donated hay every weekend since October. A big thanks to Matt.

Aussie Hay Runners have been supporting farmers affected by natural disasters since it was established in 2019.

About Aussie Hay Runners

Aussie Hay Runners - supporting farmers affected by natural disasters. It's our aim to help as many farmers as possible, as best we can. We provide donated hay (fodder) and transport it to whoever needs it. We hope to provide a little relief to enable farmers time to reassess their position and make decisions without the added stress of trying to feed their livestock. Aussie Hay Runners was established in 2019 when Linda Widdup from Carlisle River, country Victoria, saw a Facebook post about drought affected farmers in Dunedoo, NSW. Farmers were desperate, 5th generation farmers were selling their animals because they could not provide water or feed for them. The situation was dire, they were selling their heritage. She knew she had to do something to help, so she teamed up with Phillip Garrett and Tammy Cooper and AHR was born. Now in our fifth year, with a group of dedicated volunteers and a large group of drivers, we are proudly supported by the NSW Rural Assistance Authority, Ray Akers of Gippsland Hay Relief and recently we have been made a Project by the largest Lions Club in rural Victoria, Heyfield Lions Club. Our team is made up of everyday people donating time and coming together as a community to help those in need after the effects of natural disasters. Since AHR’s inception, we have completed 25 runs with 844 trucks travelling a total of 1,988,326 kms to deliver 30,399 bales of hay assisting 2,659 farmers, their families and in turn their communities. We announce upcoming runs, how to apply and the date applications open via our Facebook page. We also announce these details via local radio stations and post into local community Facebook groups as well. We recommend people like and follow our page so they can see as soon as a run is announced. We take a lot of pride in what we do and helping our fellow Aussies is what we are all about. As Linda says "it's not a hand out, it's a hand up". If you are interested in donating time, hay, or assist with transport, please contact Linda on 0421 972 332. For media enquiries, please contact Anne-Marie on 0402 133 145.
